Finally, at the foot of the Pic du Midi, admire the famous Col du Tourmalet. Once traversed by shepherds and pilgrims, it is now cyclists who attempt to reach its highest point at 2115 meters. The Col du Tourmalet is the starting point for numerous hiking trails, including to the Pic du Midi.

In fact, Pouzac is a village with 2 bell towers, that of the Saint-Saturnin church and that of the maison commune located in the center of the village. As you stroll through the village districts, admire the beautiful old houses, bridges and wash-houses, for water is omnipresent in Pouzac.

Visit Lourdes in Hautes-Pyrénées
Lourdes lies at the foot of the Pyrenees. The town is world-famous for its Notre-Dame de Lourdes sanctuary. Every year, millions of people, pilgrims and visitors alike, visit this town in the Hautes-Pyrénées. When you come to the sanctuary, there are a few places you won’t want to miss, such as the Grotte de Massabielle. This is where the 18 apparitions of the Blessed Virgin to Bernadette Soubirous took place.
Pilgrims can touch the rock or drink Lourdes water at the fountains to the right of the grotto. The Church of Sainte-Bernadette and the Basilica of Notre-Dame du Rosaire are other religious sites worth visiting. The historic center of Lourdes is also well worth a visit. The town was a stronghold in the Middle Ages, as evidenced by its listed fortified castle, which offers a superb view of the town and the Pyrenees. The fortress is also home to the Pyrenean Museum, which recounts the life of the town’s inhabitants in days gone by. As you stroll through the narrow streets, take note of the many fountains.
